We are located in Poppi, in the heart of Tuscany, near one of the most beautiful villages in Italy!
From a simple passion for wine to a small artisan company of sparkling wine passing through a vision told by our eyes and our hands. 

2009 Roberto Fregnan has always been a fan of bubbles, but it is during a road trip with a friend that he decides to start making sparkling wine as a "game" in one of the most suitable territories in Italy. Few bottles with vineyard concession made for friends and family. We are in the North of Italy and some features are well connected to the much loved Casentino

2013 Vigna del Patriota In the 36 months of waiting, Roberto begins to imagine a real vineyard in Casentino completely dedicated to the Classic Method. Once tasted the first bottles, he is convinced that the first winery completely dedicated to sparkling wine can become a reality. Thus begins the planting of 7,000 rooted vines of Chardonnay and 3,000 of Pinot Noir in Buiano, near Poppi at an altitude between 430 m asl and 485 m asl.

2013 The Cellar
At the same time, a splendid wine cellar is designed, which sees the breaking rock of the vineyard acting as a "dress" for the liquid gold that will rest inside it for at least 36 months. Among difficulties, huge investments and intuitions takes shape Cantina Fregnan, a small jewel in the heart of the greenest Casentino.

2015 Organic certification
With the 2018 grape harvest, the organic certification appears on the label, the company is still under organic management from the beginning, in full respect of the wonderful valley that embraces and preserves Cantina Fregnan and Vigna del Patriota.

2017 The first "real" grape harvest
With the 2017 harvest, the "game" finally turns into a real job, Roberto leaves the vineyard in concession in Northern Italy to dedicate himself completely to the Vigna del Patriota. The vintage, however, is difficult, the frost that hits the Casentino on April 22nd will reduce production to 20 quintals, shaking the certainties of a man accustomed to success who has transformed his passion into work.

2019 The first bottle
The path started out of passion in 2009 finally finds its true dimension: the bottle. With 2019 comes out the first wine entirely produced in Casentino, starting from Vigna del Patriota" through the beautiful cellar. The real beginning of the activity of Cantina Fregnan, the moment that Roberto and Maria Grazia have been waiting for for almost 10 years.

2020 dante.wine
Our collaboration begins with dante.wine, a local company that produces wines in purity from native Tuscan grapes. The union of these two companies, allows us to be ever closer to our goal, to serve Tuscany in a glass.
