An idyllic wine-growing area south of Lake Iseo in Lombardy. Since the sixties noble sparkling wines are produced here according to the champagne method, which - in contrast to the simpler Prosecco - is a very elaborate procedure.
After the harvest, the grapes are pressed gently, creating the so-called "Vorlaufmost", the starting wine of each Franciacorta. With careful tastings in the spring, different starting wines are mixed to form a cuvée.
