For over 140 years since its foundation, Ruffino has continued to express, in every bottle of wine produced, the history and tradition of Tuscan winemaking. In 1877 cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino embraced their passion for winemaking by founding a small winery in the municipality of Pontassieve, near Florence. This is how the Ruffino winery fits into the Tuscan winemaking tradition.
Soon the quality of Ruffino wine grew and became famous for its balanced and elegant characteristics. They established themselves on the Italian scene and soon abroad, where Chianti Ruffino became the first imported wine in the United States. In the meantime the Ruffino family continued to invest in new vineyards and became one of the first large wineries with vineyards in the three most famous wine regions of Italy: Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
To produce the best wines, only the best vineyards are selected, carefully managing the vines and the harvest. The search for the highest quality combines innovation with the preservation of the traditional characteristics of Ruffino wines: freshness, sobriety, link with the terroir. The Ruffini winery produces wines deeply rooted in the history and cultural heritage of Italy. An extensive production of reds, which shine with centuries of Tuscan tradition, along with rosés, whites and precious sparkling wines: a wide range of IGT, DOC and DOCG wines.
